Football Wins at Central Park

While crowds were thronging to the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow for the
World Cup Football finals, there was a crowd gathering 5,858 km away at
Central Park, Bhartiya City. Up on a big screen, the cup was about to come
alive for the 150 odd invitees. There were painted faces, and jerseys from
the clashing camps. As the nervous clock approached 1900 hrs, from sizzling
– the atmosphere at Central Park turned electric. There were fans, and there
were followers and there were cheerers for every chance taken and every
goal missed. By now, the pavilion was bursting at its seams. Gentlemen and
ladies, some of whom were getting their first taste of football, were
becoming the Game’s newfound fans. France might have won, but Football
gained some new fans, and created some indelible memories far far away in
this big little city.
